Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Director of Revenue Cycle Operations Enhancement and Development, representatives on the Patient Responsibility team will communicate insurance benefits and financial plans to management, colleagues, clinic staff, and patients. They generate and relay pre-service cost estimates, and accept pre-service payments when applicable. You will:
- Verify insurance benefits and eligibility, determining patient liability, understanding authorization requirements, and informing patients of their financial responsibilities
- Handle incoming calls and emails, providing excellent customer service to patients, UCLA faculty/staff, vendors, and insurance representatives.

Salary offers are determined based on various factors including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, and equity. The full salary range for this position is $29.53 - $46.37 hourly. The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is approximately $35 hourly.
Job Qualifications

We are seeking an detail-oriented individual with:
- Familiarity with standard insurance plans (e.g. HMO, PPO, Medicare, Medicaid/MediCal, Workman's Compensation)
- Ability to read and interpret EOBs
- Understanding of CCI edits, multiple procedures, modifiers, and bundling effects on payments
- Understanding of front-end Epic applications: Cadence, ADT, and Prelude
- Knowledge of Medical terminology, different exams, medical diagnoses, and UCLA registration procedures
- Knowledge of Department and Hospital computer systems, including pre-registration and insurance verification
