Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Semel Institute is seeking to hire a limited, part time Behavioral Health Counselor to join our Youth Stress and Mood (YSAM) Program. You would be responsible for conducting interventions and evaluations for both adult and youth populations. You will provide support to program Directors in implementing research, care, and quality assurance protocols. Primary duties include:

  • Implement program protocols for evaluation, care/interventions, and linkage to other care resources, these include work with children, adolescents, young adults as well as parents/caregivers and significant others
  • Complete program training protocols
  • Complete program quality assurance and monitoring protocols
  • Collaborate with other faculty, staff, and trainees to provide care for research and clinical patients, including teams participating in YSAM Program multisite research projects at other sites
  • Work with interdisciplinary team to provide evaluation and treatment for youths seen in the Emergency Department

Salary range: $31.03/hr - $65.90/hr

Job Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mental health related field

Training in mental Health or related field 

Must be able to work evenings and weekends to meet patient and department needs

Ability to assess, evaluate, and provide care for children, adolescents, and young adults with elevated suicide/self-harm risk and/or complex emotional and medical diagnosis. 

Ability to provide guidance, support, and care for families, caregivers, and significant others of children, adolescents, and young adults with elevated suicide/self-harm risk and/or complex emotional and medical diagnoses recommend course of treatment for child and adolescents. 

Ability to complete training and quality assurance protocols for research and clinical programs.

Experience working with suicidal/self-harm and associated mental health problems

Effective written and oral communication skills

Ability to collaborate and work effectively and respectfully with research and clinical teams.
