The Sterile Processing Director directs, plans and manages the operations and resources of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD). Ensures coordinated and timely delivery of reprocessed items. Serves as a liaison to maintain cooperative and collaborative working relationships with clinical stakeholders. Develops and maintains a system of internal reviews that ensure service programs operation in compliance with regulatory and accrediting organizations. In conjunction with Perioperative Services Director, manages the overall SPD budget including determining resource needs, allocation resources and ensuring proper utilization in productivity, efficiency and cost effectiveness of SPD operations.

Required
• Specialized/technical training Graduate of an accredited Sterile Processing or Surgical Technician program.
• Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
• 5+ years of experience in progressive leadership / management in development and sterile processing
• 7+ years of experience as an SPD tech in a clinical setting with specific knowledge of AAMI standards.
• Demonstrated knowledge of human resources management and staff development. Ability to manage staff, resolve conflicts and build teams.
• Demonstrated knowledge of fiscal management including budget development. Ability to negotiate service contracts and equipment purchases.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills to identify problems then determine and implement appropriate, effective solutions.
• Ability to implement process improvement strategies and quality initiatives.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills with the ability to present complex information to diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with senior management and staff.
• Thorough knowledge of all aspects of sterile processing operations.
• Knowledge of procurement and supply chain management.
Preferred
• Bachelors or Master’s degree in business administration, Healthcare Administration or a related field
• HSPA Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER), Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS), or Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL)
