Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI), the Staff Research Associate II (SRA II) will independently work on and initiate projects that relate to basic/translational neuro-immunology and brain tumor immunotherapy. This will include surgeries on rodent brain tumor models, drug administration, blood sampling and genotyping. They will also utilize a variety of molecular and biochemical techniques including western blotting, multiplexing, ELISAs and immunohistochemistry, as well as next generation sequencing analysis. They will also be responsible for the supervision and training of laboratory assistants and students, and participation in lab maintenance. This is a 100% career position with the opportunity for advancement and promotion within the series rank.

Salary Range: $28.88 - $46.46/Hourly

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Knowledge of the laboratory equipment (centrifuge, incubators, plate reader, preparation of reagents).
  • Experience in using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Prism.
  • Reliable, able to work independently, organized, attention to detail, and ability to multitask, manage with changing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated skill in routine lab techniques, including Western blots, ELISA, IHC, colorimetry assays, microscopy.
  • Aptitude and willingness to work with animal models (mouse).
  • Organizational aptitude to maintain all records accurately and completely.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interaction to communicate diplomatically and effectively with faculty, peers, patients, physicians, collaborators, researchers, administrators, and University faculty and staff.
  • Ability to learn new laboratory techniques and new equipment, as needed.


Preferred:

  • B.S./M.S. in either molecular biology or neuroscience or related field with 2 years minimum experience.
  • Ability to work overtime and on weekends if necessary.
  • Experience in working with human specimens.
  • Knowledge of immunotherapy techniques.
  • Knowledge of Bioinformatic analysis of next generation sequencing data.
  • Proficiency in small animal surgery.
