The Better Practice Solutions Team supports UCLA Health Clinics’ mission to deliver leading-edge patient care by providing reporting and analytics, promoting operational excellence, and helping to ensure that patients receive timely and efficient care.
As an integral member of the Better Practice Solutions Team, the Analyst will work closely with the Better Practice Solutions Manager to help drive efficiency and effectiveness of clinical operations through financial sustainability and performance improvement. The Analyst will be expected to serve as liaison in certain capacities with operational teams and leaders across UCLA Health’s Ambulatory Enterprise.
The Analyst will help inform and implement UCLA Health’s Ambulatory Strategy by monitoring and reporting out on operational metrics such as staffing needs/volume, utilization patterns, patient demand, and referral leakage, for assigned service lines/areas.
Using deep insight, critical thinking, and operational expertise, the Analyst will work to monitor access, efficiency, and productivity of UCLA Health practices. When areas of opportunity are identified, the Better Practice Solutions Office will partner with leadership to develop, execute, and assess performance improvement plans using tools and strategies such as financial and operational SWOT analysis, PDSA cycles, and Lean methodologies.

Job Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, health science or a related field
- 2+ years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with Tableau, Power BI, or other data visualization tools (SQL experience a plus)
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of Lean, six sigma, or similar process improvement methodologies
- Past experience with project management, and meeting deadlines with accountability
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to establish cooperative working relationships with peers, physicians, senior executives, and other operational leaders
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills – able to analyze information, problems, situations, practices, and procedures to recognize alternatives and provide solutions as well as ability to translate business questions and requirements into reports, views, and data visualizations
- Ability to collaborate with management to ensure people, financial, and informational resources are aligned; knowledge of institutional policies and procedures
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to organize, prioritize and complete work in a timely manner despite many deadlines and competing priorities
- A highly service-oriented attitude and proven flexibility, ability to maintain composure and respond professionally when confronted with difficult situations
