Under minimal supervision of the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Faculty, Technologist will produce diagnostic images of human anatomy using various diagnostic ultrasound scanning equipment. Competently perform the most complex diagnostic ultrasound procedures portably, intra-operatively and in the consultations suite on adults and geriatric patients. Incumbents perform and train new technologists, students, residents, and fellows in procedures on a continuing and assigned basis. Produce and archive images using the PACS and ViewPoint systems. Operate laser printers, color paper printers and display monitors. Assist physicians with various special procedures such as amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, ultrasound guided procedures and saline sonograms. Assist in maintaining quality control standards. Initiate and follow up requests for equipment maintenance, monitor equipment condition. Monitors supply usage and maintain required records. Ability to act as a resource technologist with extensive knowledge of diagnostic procedures and protocols. Complete all required billing functions thoroughly and accurately. Maintain clean, safe, orderly work and patient care area. Assist Principal Ultrasound Technologist with data collection and productivity analysis. Assist Principal Ultrasound Technologist to assess and update needed competencies. The Senior Ultrasound Technologist will travel and provide scanning or technical assistance to other areas of the UCLA Department of OB/GYN clinics throughout of the community as assigned by the supervisor for overage including Westwood, Santa Monica, and Marina Del Rey. Other duties, as assigned.
Salary Range: $62.43 - $76.12 hourly
Job Qualifications

- Current certification by the ARDMS, OBGYN
- Current BLS certification from AHA or ARC
- 5 years experience in diagnostic ultrasound technology
- Degree from an accredited Ultrasonography Program
- Current Nuchal Translucency Certification
- Reading skills to comprehend technical and procedure manuals and other medical records written in standard English
- Ability to communicate in standard English to collect and clearly convey information to physicians, staff, patients, and the public.
- Technical skills and knowledge to interpret clinical data provided on requisitions and adjust examination parameter as needed.
- Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with physicians, staff, patients and the public.
- Ability to be courteous, patient, professional and diplomatic in any given situation.
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Working knowledge of basic sterile procedure and sterile fields
- Ability to appropriated screen and instruct patients for a procedure
- Ability to maintain a pleasant demeanor and to work effectively under pressure, and frequent interruptions.
