Primary Duties and Responsibilities

In this key role, you will review Ambulatory Medical Specialty & Heme/Onc infusion orders for medical necessity, formulary preferences and if needed coordinate with the prescribing provider to update orders per protocol prior to authorization submission.  You will serve as the primary ambulatory pharmacy resource for information regarding infusion payor formularies and denial reasons. You will support authorization coordinators and prescribing providers with complex infusion medication authorization cases.  You will maintain and review patient medication profiles, review physician medication orders and patients’ insurance benefits. You will interact with healthcare professionals and providers to help decrease authorization turnaround time and improve the patient experience. 

 

Schedule: Varied shifts, depending on department needs (Monday-Friday). Required to have the ability to travel to multiple work sites within UCLA Health. 

Hourly Salary Rate: $103.31 (Standard Per Diem Rate)

Bargaining Unit: HX-UPTE 


Job Qualifications

We’re seeking a dedicated clinical professional with:

  • Pharm D. degree and current CA Pharmacy license (required)
  • Minimum of 1 year of practice experience in Oncology (required)
  • Prior Infusion Experience (preferred)
  • Prior Medical Benefit Authorization Experience (strongly preferred)
  • Epic experience (preferred)
  • BCOP (preferred)
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, organizational and follow-through skills.
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform age specific and disease specific pharmacokinetic calculations.
