The Per Diem Echocardiographic Technician performs advanced echocardiographic procedures, including 2D, M-mode, Doppler studies, stress echocardiograms, and assists with transesophageal echocardiograms under the clinical supervision of the UCLA Cardiac Imaging team. Responsibilities include patient care, image analysis, administering IV contrast and bubble studies, and maintaining accurate records and charge documentation. The role requires effective communication, patient safety advocacy, and proficiency with imaging equipment and protocols. Hospital-based positions may include being on call and responding promptly to emergencies.

Job Qualifications

Please ensure your resume includes a list of all relevant certifications and licenses.

  • Completion of Cardiac Echocardiography Technology Program – required
  • ARDMS-RDCS (AE) or attainment of ARDMS-RDCS (AE) within 6 months of hire (must have and maintain CCI until ARDMS-RDCS (AE) is attained)  – required
  • At least 3 years of recent Adult or Pediatric/Fetal echo tech experience – required
  • Current BCLS from American Heart Association or American Red Cross – required
  • Congenital Heart Experience – preferred
  • Ability to move 500lb+ ultrasound machine around the medical center
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology and pathology and ability to apply theory to practice in the clinical evaluation of target anatomy
