Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Human Resources Generalist II is responsible for supporting and coordinating HR services, policies, and programs for the Department of Urology. 

Specific areas of responsibility include HR Administration, Leave Coordination, Benefits, HR Compliance, Payroll Management, and Staffing/ Recruitment and Employee/Labor Relations in conjunction with UCLA Health HR. In this role you will assess and anticipate HR-related needs and communicates proactively with direct supervisor, HR Manager/Director, and UCLA Health HR.

Please note that this contract role may convert to career. 

Pay Range: $31.51 - $62.64 hourly. 

Job Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1-3 years in General Human Resources experience or in specific responsibility area
  • 1-3 years of experience Microsoft Office
  • Working knowledge of procedures and practices that govern HR administration, preferably in a university environment.
  • Analytical skills to conduct analysis, develop recommendations, and resolve organizational issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize work and manage divergent needs.
  • Working knowledge of human resources concepts, employment practices, employee/labor relations, salary administration, recruitment, training, and other areas of human resources.
  • Ability to work independently or with a team and complete projects within specified deadlines.
  • Skilled in handling sensitive information and / or situations and maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Skilled in meeting deadlines despite frequent interruptions.
  • Skilled in composing business, personnel and / or payroll correspondence.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively relay and obtain information, explain policies and procedures, and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with diverse audiences, including faculty, staff, and students.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with department staff, managers, and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of benefits and retirement programs, preferably in a university environment; ability to interpret and communicate complex benefits information to employees at all levels.
Preferred:
  • 1-3 years UCPath / PeopleSoft or applicable enterprise software
  • 1-3 years HBS or time keeping system
