Primary Duties and Responsibilities

This position is a great opportunity for students interested in issues of importance in the disability community. The UCLA Tarjan Center, a University Center of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, has projects that address a wide variety of issues for individuals with disabilities in postsecondary education, employment, the arts, health and wellness. Primary roles will include supporting postsecondary education and employment initiatives.
Duties may include:
- Participate in special assigned projects
- Assist with editing reports
- Assist with adding captioning to videos
- Assist with registration for Conferences, webinars and trainings
- Assist with editing and recording of our Podcast series
- Help increase our online and social media presence of current and ongoing projects
- Help prepare for, attend, and take notes during Tarjan Center meetings and activities
- Other assignments as need

Pay Range: $17.90 - $26.00

- Skilled in working in Microsoft Office Suite, excellent writing and editing skills; highly organized and reliable; ability to prioritize work; communication skills to speak clearly and distinctly; ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
- Maintain positive working relationships with staff and faculty; and the ability to work independently.
- Skilled in video editing, social media platforms, and creating appealing visual products.
- Student will be trained in how to make documents and other products accessible and use of appropriate language when communicating about disability issues.
- Able to work independently and pay attention to detail.
- Ability to write clearly, concisely, and grammatically correct notes and memos.
- Basic ability to operate photocopier, telephone systems and other general office equipment.
- Flexibility to move from one task to another based on interruptions and changing priorities.
- Disability Minor and Communications Majors encouraged but we are open to all majors depending on skills and experience.
