Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The UCLA Center for Cannabis and Cannabinoids is seeking a part-time Nurse Practitioner (up to 4 hours per week) to support ongoing clinical research projects. The Nurse Practitioner works directly with the Principal Investigator (PI), the Medical Monitor, Co- Investigators (Co-I’s), Staff Research Associates, postdoctoral fellows, and trainees in the performance of duties related to the conduct of investigational drug studies with human subjects. The primary duties include, but are not limited to, enrollment and safety assessments, conducting non-drug study visits meant in preparation for and follow-up from drug administration visits, and the facilitation of drug administration visits according to study protocols. Meetings with the Investigators and research team are expected on a case-by-case basis and will depend on the study protocol.

This role is a 10% position that will last approximately one year.

Salary range: $93.81-$133.97

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • CA RN -Required 
  • State of California NP, National Certification in NP Specialty (i.e. ANCC)-Required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from American Heart Association -Required 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross -Required
  • 3+ Years as an NP - Preferred 
  • 1+ Years  of research experience - Preferred
  • Master’s degree in a clinical field related to nursing, or a graduate degree in nursing- Required
  • Advanced knowledge of the pharmacology and safety profile of psychedelic drugs in human subjects Required 
  • Ability to establish cooperative working relationships with participants and co-workers. Required 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work effectively in a diverse and interdisciplinary team. Required 
  • Excellent clinical problem-solving skills Required 
  • Prior experience in FDA-regulated human psychedelics research. Required 
  • Training in the handling of psychiatric crises related to psychedelic use. Required CITI HIPAA and CITI Good Clinical Practices certification Required
