Primary Duties and Responsibilities

As a Clinical Laboratory Scientist specializing in Transfusion Medicine, you will be integral to our patient care team, undertaking the following duties:

Conduct patient transfusion testing and handle immunohematology problem work-ups.

Perform computer data entry and retrieval tasks.

Execute quality control testing and engage in quality assurance activities.

Provide essential transfusion support for a diverse range of patients, including those undergoing trauma and transplant procedures at UCLA Medical Center.

Record and review test results for accuracy and completeness while maintaining meticulous lab records.

Assist fellow patient care team members with inquiries regarding test results and blood product availability.

Salary Range: $56.54/hour - $75.34/hour

In addition to a competitive salary range, this position is also eligible for shift differentials and bonus pay.

Job Qualifications

Current, valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or Clinical Immunohematologist Scientist (CIS) license.

Bachelor’s degree.

Must pass the Ishihara Color Vision exam, i.e. visual acuity including color differentiation.

Two years of recent CLS experience within a Blood Bank/Transfusion Medicine setting – preferred.

Experience with MTS gel methodology and solid-phase testing – preferred.

Ability to work 11:00am – 7:30pm shifts occasionally.
