Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Surgical Instruments Repair Technician is responsible to inspect surgical instruments and evaluate their efficiency as surgical tools.  This technician will perform repairs and preventative maintenance work on surgical instrumentation to meet the expected standards for clinical care.  The technician has the ability and mechanical aptitude to separate out defective instruments and replace them with good quality tools in a timely manner. The surgical Instrument technician demonstrates a strong experience of handling and repairing surgical instruments with precision and is familiar with the prescribed waste management procedures and safety measures.

Job Qualifications

·       Fundamental knowledge of electricity and how it relates to equipment (A/C and D/C current) and reading voltages

  • Knowledge of and experience with software applications for instrument management and tracking
  • Computer skills with proficiency in applications such as (Word, Excel)
  • Experience in hand tools, multimeters, soldering irons, and millimeter is essential
  • Must be familiar with all Company products, its design, functions, and compatibility with other components.
  • Basic statistical and analytical business math skills
  • Valid California Driver’s License
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ON THE JOB: 
    Standing, Walking, Sitting,  
    Using hands to finger, handle or feel 
    Manual dexterity-hand/eye coordination 
    Reach with hands and arms 
    Balancing 
    Stoop, kneel, crouch   

Lifting to 75 lbs. 
Carrying up to 50 lbs.

  • ·       To maintain the job site in a clean and organized manner.

Experience:

2-5 years in servicing medical- surgical instrument / devise instruments

Two-year associate degree in electronic technology or equivalent education in reprocessing, repair of surgical instruments or combination Preferred

Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Clinical Engineering /Bio-Medical technology) preferred

BCLS Preferred
