Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Department of Molecular & Medical Pharmacology is seeking a motivated Staff Research Associate 1 to join a cancer biology research team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative translational research focused on molecular and cellular mechanisms of cancer.

The selected candidate will perform a broad range of laboratory techniques in molecular biology, cell biology, and biochemistry, including Western blotting, PCR, molecular cloning, generation of genetically modified cell lines, metabolite analysis, primary immune cell culture, immune profiling, ELISA assays, and flow cytometry. Additional responsibilities include maintaining laboratory supplies, inventory, and overall lab organization to support ongoing research activities.

The Staff Research Associate 1 will collaborate closely with scientists and laboratory personnel, assist in mentoring trainees, maintain detailed and organized research records, prepare research summaries under supervision, and present findings during laboratory meetings. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual seeking hands-on experience in a collaborative biomedical research environment.

Hourly range: $28.69-$34.21 

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Knowledge of basic molecular biology, cell biology and biochemical principles.
  • Ability to use basic laboratory equipment; including centrifuges, pipettes, etc.
  • Experience with cell culture and cell viability analysis.
  • Ability to organize raw data into a comprehensible form.
  • Ability to maintain laboratory readiness for future experiments.
  • Ability to create and maintain accurate research records.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and convey experimental results.
  • Ability to communicate with a diverse group of faculty, staff, post-doctoral researchers, graduate and undergraduate student about techniques and protocols.
  • BS in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field and or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with molecular biology techniques; including: western blot, cloning, ELISA, PCR.
