Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Join our team at the Department of Ophthalmology and provide essential administrative support for the Cornea and Uveitis clinic in Westwood! Your role will be pivotal in ensuring smooth patient care coordination. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Obtain authorizations and referrals
  • Verify insurances
  • Answer patient calls
  • Schedule appointments
  • Provide support in the patient check in/out and scheduling process


Salary Range: $25.60-36.33 Hourly

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • One year experience working in a medical office scheduling patient appointments in computerized scheduling system, answering telephones, interacting with patients and familiarity with current billing practices including governmental plans
  • Excellent interpersonal skills which promote pleasant and effective communications with patients, staff and doctors
  • Proficient in using software including but not limited to Word and Excel software to improve work efficiency
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexible personality and ability to adapt to changing needs of department
  • Ability to interact calmly and effectively with patients with difficult personalities 

Preferred:

  • Experience registering patients in UCLA Encounter Registration system
  • Experience working in a teaching environment
  • Experience working in an Ophthalmology practice
