Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Application Manager, the Application Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring the performance, reliability, and optimization of software applications across the portfolio and service line. This position is responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining existing applications, as well as designing, building, testing, and supporting new applications and modules to meet organizational needs.

The Analyst must develop deep expertise in both the software applications and the operational workflows they support, while also maintaining a thorough understanding of relevant clinical or business policies, procedures, and constraints. Collaboration is a key aspect of this role, as the Analyst works with business stakeholders, vendors, and other Information System Solutions (ISS) team members to evaluate and implement solutions to complex challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimization of software applications to ensure peak performance.
  • Design, build, test, and support new applications and modules within the assigned portfolio or service line.
  • Acquire comprehensive knowledge of supported software applications and the operational workflows they enhance.
  • Analyze and interpret organizational policies, procedures, and constraints to inform application development and support.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, vendors, and ISS team members to propose and implement solutions to complex problems.

This flexible hybrid role allows for a blend of remote and on-site work, requiring presence at least once a month or as needed based on operational requirements. Please note, travel to the “home office” location is not reimbursed. Each employee will complete a FlexWork Agreement with their manager to outline expectations and ensure mutual understanding. These arrangements are periodically reviewed and may be adjusted or terminated as necessary.

Salary offers are based on a variety of factors including qualifications, experience, and internal equity. The full salary range for this position is $102,500 – $207,700 annually. The University anticipates offering a salary between  $102,500 -  $140,000 annually.

Required Skills and Abilities

·       Broad and/or in-depth knowledge of multiple areas of focus in application specialty areas.  Knowledge of systems and functions, including design, development, implementation, user support and training, maintenance, quality assurance, and system testing and evaluation.

·       Ability to research, organize, analyze, and synthesize data to support effective decision making.

·       Must be detail oriented and have a knack for probing for information, to fully understand the underlying needs that influence how a system should be configured/ organized.

·       Ability to decide priority of assigned tasks and manage multiple and competing tasks.

·       Ability to work effectively as a team player and work with people of all backgrounds, at all levels.

·       Effective leadership skills and strong customer service orientation.

·       Strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to convey technical information to all levels of application users in a specific, clear, and concise manner.

·       Ability to remain calm in difficult and stressful situations. Must be able to recognize problems, evaluate, and refer to the appropriate channels for action.

·       Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train, support, and work collaboratively with business owners, team members, and management.

 

Required Knowledge and Experience

 

·       Demonstrate sufficient programming skills and understanding in areas such as .NET, Java, Linux shell scripting, SQL syntax and tools, Window OS and its commands, Open-Source platform, IBM WebSphere platform, and SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle).

·       Demonstrate proficiency with information systems technology, which also includes Microsoft Office Suite, email, intranet, internet, and other systems.

·       Demonstrated skill in system workflow and business process flow analysis and design.

.     Bachelor’s degree in health care information technology, computer science, or related area, and/or equivalent combination of experience/training.
