Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Join UCLA Health at UCLA West Valley Medical Center as our next Associate Director of Nutrition Services, where you will play a vital role in shaping the patient and guest experience through innovative, high-quality food and nutrition programs.

In this leadership role, you will provide strategic direction and operational oversight for all aspects of our hospital’s food and nutrition services. You will lead a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with a strong focus on patient-centered care, service excellence, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee patient meal services, retail food outlets, catering operations, and clinical nutrition partnerships

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards, including CMS, Joint Commission, and local health authorities

  • Drive quality improvement initiatives, sustainability efforts, and service innovation

  • Standardize processes and operational policies across one or more sites within the health system

  • Align department goals with hospital-wide objectives to enhance patient satisfaction and operational performance

Salary Range: $102,500-$227,700 Annually

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Must be a Registered Dietitian or Certified Dietary Manager.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
  • 5 years of management level experience in Hospital Food and Nutrition Services.
  • Hold a valid ServSafe certification.
  • Strong knowledge of safety and sanitation procedures compliant with regulatory agency requirements.
  • Experience working with represented staff members and adhering to the collective bargaining agreements; Knowledge of Joint Commission and Title XXII.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of development and management of operational and capital budgets.
  • Consistently interacts with all members of the organization in ways that enhance understanding, respect, cooperation and problem solving.
  • Understands the approaches and methods of process improvement, including planning, setting priorities, systematic performance assessment, and implementation based on such assessment, and maintaining achieved improvement.
  • Expertise in developing and implementing patient and retail food and nutrition programs.

 

Strongly Preferred:

  • Possess strong commercial acumen and computer literacy.
  • Acquired culinary experience.
