Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine is seeking applicants for a Staff position as a Health Sciences Attending Physician for an innovative and comprehensive interventional community pain practice in the Los Angeles area. The applicant must be a BC/BE Fellowship-trained Pain Management Physician, certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in Pain Medicine, and eligible to hold a California Medical License.

 This position offers a unique opportunity to join UCLA as a Staff Physician while working in a community private practice setting. The practice includes clinic space, staff, and dedicated pain procedure rooms.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assess and treat both elective and urgent consultations.
  • Provide patient care following best practice standards and all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Deliver evidence-informed medical and interventional pain management based on appropriate clinical indications, ensuring high standards of care.
  • Perform most interventions using fluoroscopy or ultrasound.
  • Collaborate with paramedical clinicians, other physicians, and support services for multidisciplinary interventional pain management.
  • Report regularly to the Medical Director and collaborate closely with the Clinic Manager, Executive Team, and Patient Access Team.
  • Maintain ongoing professional development as required by the provincial regulatory body.
  • Participate in team meetings, educational events, and clinic social events.
  • Complete medical documentation and visit claims data in the clinic's electronic medical record (EMR) system promptly and professionally.

Other Duties:

  • Perform additional tasks as needed, including teaching, research, educational presentations, expert opinion report preparation, independent medicolegal consulting, and administrative duties.

The University of California, Los Angeles is required to provide an estimate of the salary range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Salary offers are determined based on candidate qualifications and experience. The base salary range for this position is 112,300.00-258,300.00. Anticipated contract salary range is 311,628.00-372,768.00. 

Job Qualifications

Requirements:

·       Valid California Medical License and DEA License
·       Board Eligible/Certificated in Anesthesia
·       Valid certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
·       Demonstrated skill and knowledge in performing physical examinations during pre-, intra-, and post-operative surgical, medical and obstetrical patients
·       Ability to identify pre-existing disease entities and their potential impact upon anesthesia care plan and administration, through interpretation of past medical history, physical examination, laboratory tests, ECG and chest x-ray
·       Ability to recognize return to consciousness of anesthesia reflexes signaling safe emergence from anesthesia.
·       Ability to recognize post-op complications of anesthesia and initiating emergency treatment.
