Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Department of Medicine is seeking to hire a skilled Biostatistician. In this role, you'll be responsible for developing and leveraging computational tools to analyze and interpret biological or other research data. You'll utilize and enhance algorithms, computational techniques, and statistical methodologies while contributing to the design of new experiments. Additionally, you'll play a key role in meeting end-user needs by integrating database searching and maintaining computational infrastructure. You'll also oversee the flow of samples and information for large-scale studies and provide web-based bioinformatics solutions and access to public and proprietary databases. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge in the application of multivariate statistical analysis and expert-level technical competence using R software/programming. This role is a great fit for you if you are passionate about leveraging technology to advance medical research.

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in biological science, computational / programming, biostatistics, data science, or Materials and Nanoscience
  • Thorough knowledge of bioinformatics methods, applications programming, web development and data structures
  • Thorough knowledge of bioinformatics programming design, modification and implementation
  • Understanding of relational databases, web interfaces, and operating systems 
  • Strong project management skills
  • Thorough knowledge of modern biology and applicable field of research
  • Communication skills to work with both technical and non-technical personnel in multiple fields of expertise and at various levels in the organization
  • Ability to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner Ability to interface with management on a regular basis
  • Self motivated, work independently or as part of a team, able to learn quickly, meet deadlines and demonstrate problem solving skills
  • Thorough knowledge of web, application and data security concepts and methods
