Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Join our Venice Family Clinic team and use your expertise to make a difference in the community as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT-1).  Under the guidance and supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor, the CPT will assist in the day-to-day operations and:  

  • Perform phlebotomy on patients in an outpatient setting.
  • Calibrate POC instruments such as glucometers, hemoglobin analyzers, Urinalysis, etc.
  • Process hematocrits, Rua’s, card pregnancy tests, etc.
  • Maintain logs for tests requested and received—process specimens for other sites. 
  • Maintain laboratory supplies at an appropriate level.
  • Keep the work area neat, clean, and organized.
  • Travel to other Venice Family Clinic Locations within LA County as needed for coverage.

Job Qualifications

Required:
  • Phlebotomy certification from the State of California.
  • Demonstrated phlebotomy experience with adults and children in a doctor’s office or medical clinic setting.
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively interact with patients from diverse educational, cultural, social and economic backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of infection control procedures, medical terminology, and Clinical Lab test names.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced setting with accurately and attention to details. 
  • Skill in using computers and printers.
  • Skill in reading and writing English to understand technical protocols/procedures and to write accurate patient data information.
 
Preferred: bilingual verbal language skills in Spanish and English, and skill in performing quality control.
