Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the Director, UCLA Health System Facilities, you will manage the day to day preventative and reactive maintenance efforts and inspections/testing designed to ensure an appropriate Environment of Care and Life Safety environment in the Mid-Wilshire RNPH and associated campus physical plant; maintain subject premises in consistent compliance with the requirements of all applicable regulatory agencies and their proxies (including but not limited to:  CMS, CDPH, State Board of Pharmacy, TJC, Cal OSHA, CARB, etc.); manage a team of superintendents, senior superintendents, admin analysts, and union-represented trade employees consisting of facility mechanics, plumbers, electricians, etc., as well as numerous specialized external vendors, including UCLA Campus Facilities Management; represent UCLA Health to all regulatory agencies and their proxies during all scheduled and unannounced surveys/complaint validations; actively engage in risk management activities; work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team setting to advance the overall goals of the Health System as determined by Leadership; actively promote a culture of safety, engagement, equity, and inclusiveness; maintain departmental expenditures within budget. Has significant responsibility to achieve above stated goals through subordinate in-house leaders and outside vendor Forman/service managers.


Salary Range: $112,900 - $256,900

Job Qualifications

  • Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) or equivalent experience.
  • Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing/Life Safety Engineering, Power generation Technology, or related fields, and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Minimum of 6 years representing or assisting to represent a California acute-care hospital to regulatory agencies and their proxies during surveys and complaint validations.
  • Working knowledge of all codes, standards and regulatory agencies relevant to a hospital in California.
  • Working knowledge of common Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio).
  • Skills derived from directly operating and interacting with at least one CMMS in a hospital setting.
  • Effective time management and communication skills to help navigate a very dynamic hospital environment.
  • Ability to relate symbiotically and enthusiastically to individuals within a very large, diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Leadership skills to effectively manage and motivate both a represented workforce and diverse external vendor pool.
  • Ability, confidence and willingness to make sound decisions in critical, dynamic situations, tempered by a strong sense of judgement to know when escalation is needed vs. reaction.
  • Ability and willingness to adjust to changing expectations, demands, and other conditions beyond incumbent’s control.

Preferred

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Facilities Management associated with a 100-bed or larger Hospital in California.
