Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The UCLA Semel Institute is seeking to hire a full-time Indigenous Communities Response Team Technology Transfer Specialist to join the Integrated Substance Use and Addiction Program (ISAP). ISAP is a nationally recognized research, evaluation, and training program dedicated to advancing evidence-based approaches to the prevention and treatment of substance use disorders. ISAP also develops and disseminates innovative research, training, and best practices to improve behavioral health outcomes across diverse communities. Key responsibilities include:
  • Develop and deliver in-person and virtual clinical trainings for licensed and certified behavioral health professionals 
  • Facilitate consultation, coaching, and technical assistance sessions to support implementation of evidence-based practices
  • Design, update, and maintain training curricula, instructional materials, and educational resources
  • Conduct training-of-trainer programs to develop advanced facilitation and instructional skills among behavioral health professionals
  • Review current research and conduct needs assessments to ensure training content reflects emerging evidence and best practices
  • Observe clinical performance and provide feedback, coaching, and support to promote fidelity to evidence-based interventions
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through participant feedback and outcome measures, making improvements as needed
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with behavioral health agencies, clinicians, and training partners
  • Participate in project meetings, supervision, and program development activities
  • Contribute to technical reports, publications, and other dissemination efforts
Salary range: $72,240/yr - $148,050/yr

Job Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Public Health, Education, Counseling or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Master’s degree (preferred)
Demonstrated skill and experience in working with Tribal, Urban Indian, and indigenous population-serving providers and communities strongly preferred.
Comprehensive knowledge of substance use disorders, mental health conditions, and behavioral health treatment approaches
Minimum 5 years of experience delivering clinical training, workforce development, or professional education programs (preferred)
Experience delivering professional training, education, technical assistance, or workforce development programs (preferred)
Experience training behavioral health, substance use disorder, or healthcare professionals in evidence-based practices (preferred)
Experience providing coaching, consultation, supervision, or implementation support to clinicians (preferred)
Advanced skills in managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously
Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues, partners, and training participants
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation and facilitation skills
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as virtual training platforms such as Zoom
Ability to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends to meet department needs
