Primary Duties and Responsibilities

As an Inpatient Coding Auditor with a specialization in DRG payment reviews, you will conduct thorough audits of inpatient coding to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations. Reporting to the Director of Medical Coding, your role will involve evaluating coding accuracy for inpatient services and providing coding expertise to various hospital departments.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Conducting quality and DRG payment reviews for inpatient services to ensure accurate coding and reimbursement
  • Identifying documentation discrepancies, coding errors, and charge capture issues
  • Providing feedback and training to inpatient coding staff on best practices
  • Staying updated with changes in inpatient coding and billing regulations
  • Developing and refining inpatient coding policies with the Coding Management Team
  • Representing the Medical Coding Department in cross-functional meetings for coding expertise
  • Supporting departmental policies and performance improvement initiatives related to inpatient coding

Salary Range: $56.95 - $70.81 per hour.

Job Qualifications

We’re looking for a highly skilled professional with:

  • CCS certification (required); RHIA/RHIT preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of inpatient coding/auditing experience in an acute care hospital setting
  • Strong expertise in DRG assignment, CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, and inpatient regulatory standards
  • Familiarity with EPIC and 3M 360 Encompass software
  • Ability to develop and lead training programs for inpatient coding staff
  • Strong problem-solving skills to improve inpatient coding systems
  • Excellent communication and collaborative abilities for cross-departmental work
  • Dedication to professional standards and inpatient coding compliance
