The Department of Medicine is seeking a dedicated Lab Assistant to join our research team. The role involves assisting with the breeding, maintenance, and study of mice, including record-keeping and inventory management. Experience in handling mice, DNA isolation, and PCR-based genotyping is highly desirable. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential, as you will work closely with the team and provide weekly updates. Additional duties include updating protocols, ordering animals, and coordinating transfers.
*This is a 37.5% limited role which may convert to career*
Hourly range: $19.90-$23.04

Required:
- Good work ethics, strong communication skills, honest, and ability to work well with minimum supervision or as a part of a group.
- Experience using basic laboratory equipment (centrifuges, spectrophotometer, PCR machines, pH meter, balances, gel documentation) and familiar with both PC and MAC operation systems and software programs (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- General knowledge of chemistry and meticulous preparation of reagents.
- Experience handling animals.
- Needs to be knowledgeable about cell culture, cell transfections, antibody preparation
- Must be proficient in performing high-quality western blots and SDS-polyacrylamide gels
- BS/BA in Molecular Biology or related field or equivalent
- Understanding of University procedures and policies for working with biohazard, radioactive and hazardous chemicals, and their disposal.
