This laboratory operates within the Department of Neurology in the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. The lab's focus is on the molecular and cellular mechanisms of alpha-synuclein, and tau related neurodegenerative diseases including but not limited to Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease and multiple system atrophy. The lab develops cutting edge disease models and applies powerful genetic, multi-omics and high through-put screen methods to investigate a wide range of topics related to the development and progression of this group of diseases. We are particularly interested in the transmission and conformational diversity of pathological proteins in the central nervous system and the role of neuron-glial interactions in this process.
The Laboratory Assistant will assist with management of the lab related to neurodegenerative diseases. Management of the lab involves reagents and equipment, and other paperwork related with the daily operations of the lab. Training will be an ongoing feature of this role. This role necessitates familiarity with hospital and laboratory settings, mandatory participation in lab meetings, and regular reporting to the direct supervisor. This role requires a mature and highly organized individual with strong communication skills, experiment skills, and a willingness to learn.
