Primary Duties and Responsibilities

As a Medical Assistant III, you will play a key role in the Homeless Healthcare Collaborative team by assisting with administrative and patient care support for people experiencing homelessness. The Medical Assistant will work under the direct supervision of an RN, LVN, Physician, Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Assistant. Primary duties will include:

Provide care to individuals experiencing homelessness at various locations, such as encampments, interim housing/shelter sites, community health and resource fairs, and on the streets.

Participate in patient care in the ambulatory setting, including recognizing normal and abnormal signs and symptoms.

Provide support during life-threatening emergencies.

Perform basic administrative, clerical, and technical support services.

Share responsibility for driving the mobile units to various locations.

Salary Range: $28.06/hour - $37.02/hour  

 

Job Qualifications

Must possess Medical Assistant diploma or certificate. MA diploma must be accredited by ASSCS, ACCET, CAAHEP, ABHES; MA certificate must be issued by CMA, NCCT, or AMT. 

Must hold active CPR/BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Required to hold valid driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program System. and continued employment is contingent upon proof of a satisfactory driving record.

Proficiency in using instruments and supplies for physical examinations and procedures.

Ability to take vital signs, perform injections, administer medications, and manage drug refills.

Knowledge of the symptoms of common and life-threatening medical conditions, as well as the ability to assess abnormal laboratory values.

Ability to share responsibility in driving the mobile units to various locations within the Los Angeles area.

Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish – preferred 

Experience working with underserved communities – preferred
