Primary Duties and Responsibilities

As a Medical Assistant at UCLA Santa Monica Clinical Nutrition and Weight Management Clinic, you will have the opportunity to work within a multispecialty disciplinary setting. Medical Assistants participate in the patient care in the ambulatory setting, recognizing normal and abnormal signs and symptoms and providing support during life threatening emergencies. As a Medical assistant you will perform basic administrative, clerical, and technical supportive services as needed.


Salary Range: $29.46- $38.87

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or national certification (CMA, NCCT, or AMT), or equivalent hands-on clinical training (injections, venipuncture, and inhalation therapy)
  • Current BLS certification (ARC or AHA)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, symptomology, and basic clinical procedures
  • Ability to administer medications (oral, IM, subcutaneous), perform venipuncture, obtain vital signs, and complete EKGs in compliance with OSHA standards
  • Ability to assist with medical procedures, emergencies, and waived lab testing
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and compassionately with patients and care teams
  • Proficiency with electronic patient care systems and coordinating referrals
  • Ability to manage workflow, maintain inventory, and support both front and back office operations
  • Knowledge of safety protocols, including biohazard handling and MSDS
  • Reliable attendance, punctuality, and flexibility, including overtime as needed
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull 30 lbs and maintain a positive, team-oriented work environment
