Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Stroke Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive inpatient stroke and neurologic care at UCLA Santa Monica Hospital as part of a 24/7 stroke program supporting emergency, inpatient, and critical care services. The APP functions as an integral member of the multidisciplinary stroke team and participates in rapid evaluation and management of patients presenting with acute stroke and neurologic emergencies.

This role includes participation in around the clock stroke coverage, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. The Stroke APP collaborates closely with neurology attendings, emergency medicine physicians, nursing, pharmacy, rehabilitation services, radiology, and hospital operations to support timely, evidence based stroke care and optimize patient outcomes.

Salary range: $93.81-$133.97/hourly

Job Qualifications

  • CA RN and CA NP License- required
  • State of California NP, State of CA NP Furnishing with Schedule II, National Certification (i.e. ANCC)-required
  • MSN or DNP in NP Specialty (AG-AC NP/Adult - Gero Acute Care NP)
  • NPI #, DEA #,
  • Enrollment in PECOS, Enrollment in CURES
  • 1 year neurology experience as a NP- required
  • BLS and ACLS certification from AHA or ARC
  • Previous Stroke Team experience - strongly preferred
  • NIHSS Certification - required, SCRN - preferred
  • Ability to utilize excel, word and other software program-required
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative working relationships with administrative, clinical and academic personnel-required
  • Skill in working independently and following through with minimum direction-required
  • Ability to set priorities-required
  • Demonstrate writing skills to compose logical, detailed and grammatically correct correspondence-required
  •  Document patient care in a concise and comprehensive manner- required
