Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Provide positive care solutions and make a difference as an Overnight Crisis Counselor for our renowned UCLA Rape Treatment Center. Through the efforts of our outstanding people, we have become the trusted provider of exceptional, compassionate patient care for the many communities we serve.

The Rape Treatment Center (RTC) provides comprehensive, free services for victims, including 24-hour emergency medical care, forensic services, crisis counseling and longer-term therapy, information about victims’ rights and options, and many other support services – all in a special private Clinic dedicated exclusively to sexual assault victim care 24 hours a day. All free of charge to patients.

The Overnight Crisis Counselor will provide clinical social work services for sexual assault victims of all ages and their significant others who come to the RTC Sexual Assault Examination Clinic for both emergency treatment and follow-up care. These services include in-person and phone intake, crisis intervention counseling, psychosocial assessment, advocacy, accompaniment, referral to various resources and information, and follow-up. This vital role provides 24-hour, telephone and in-person, including on-site crisis intervention, counseling, advocacy, and accompaniment, to sexual assault victims seeking medical care and forensic examinations, and to their significant others. Additionally, the Overnight Crisis Counselor provides information and referral services, consultation, and assistance seeking crime victim compensation.

Note: Only 1 position will be filled; either ref #19829 for a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or ref #19830 for a License-eligible Clinical Social Worker (ACSW). 

Salary range: $47.79 - $57.09 Hourly

Job Qualifications

We’re seeking a dedicated and compassionate clinical social worker with:

  • A Master’s in Social Work or Social Welfare from an accredited School of Social Work. 
  • California State license-eligible (ACSW).
  • Available Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays from 12:00AM (Midnight) to 10:00AM
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to independently write clear and well-organized chart notes.
  • Demonstrated active listening, persuasion and counseling skills.
  • Knowledge of the dynamics and common misconceptions of sexual assault and the ability to articulate these concepts to sexual assault survivors, significant others, and the lay public.
  • Ability to function autonomously in a crisis setting, and advanced knowledge of and ability to implement crisis intervention theory and techniques.
  • Knowledge of common responses to sexual trauma and DSM V diagnostic criteria.
  • Knowledge about medical, legal, and psychological aspects of sexual assault/abuse.
  • Ability to evaluate potential child, domestic, and elder abuse situations and knowledge of legal requirements in completing suspected abuse reports.
  • Willing to perform administrative, restocking, data and/or charting tasks when there are no patients in the clinic.
