Primary Duties and Responsibilities

As the Patient Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for helping us achieve our goal of becoming a transformative, high-reliability organization with an uncompromising focus on patient safety and outcomes. You will do this by facilitating patient safety and quality improvement initiatives and coordinating the implementation of practices designed to reduce error and improve patient outcomes. This will involve fostering a non-punitive culture of continuous learning and improvement by reviewing safety events, identifying trends in near-miss and actual events, and using Lean methodologies to identify relevant trends. You will:


·      Serve as an educational resource for all departments on issues of patient safety

·      Encourage reporting of actual and near miss events

·      Conduct root cause analyses

·      Assure that corrective actions are implemented and monitored in a timely manner

·      Facilitate Failure Mode Effects Analysis Teams

·      Support the organization’s good-catch recognition program

Salary Range: $78,800 - $175,000

Job Qualifications

We’re seeking a compassionate, confident, optimistic leader with:

 

  • Related Bachelor’s degree, required
  • Master’s degree or MSN, preferred
  • Three or more years of direct patient care or 2 or more years quality/patient safety experience
  • CPHQ, CPPS, or Just Culture Certification, preferred
  • Lean Academy completion, a plus
  • Strong, confident, and reassuring leadership qualities
  • Ability to facilitate and lead change to drive improvement
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, planning, and decision-making skills
