Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Department of Medicine is seeking to hire a dynamic and experienced Peer Review RN Coordinator to drive excellence in quality improvement for our Ambulatory Care and Community Practices. In this pivotal role, you will lead the DOM Quality Physician Peer Review program, ensuring that our peer review process rigorously evaluates and enhances professional practice standards. Your clinical expertise will be essential as you manage the end-to-end peer review process—from data analysis and medical record review to facilitating impactful review meetings and presenting actionable insights. As a key contributor to our Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives, you will play a central role in shaping a culture of continuous improvement. Annual range: $112,900-$256,900

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current State of California license/permit to practice professional nursing.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of recent hospital-based or ambulatory clinical experience. Experience with a variety of specialties & sub-specialties
  • Minimum two (2) years of recent experience in Peer Review, Quality Management & Performance Improvement, or Patient Safety/Risk Management.
  • Excellent written verbal, computer, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) documentation and abstraction experience.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders including physicians and leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team while functioning independently, maintaining confidentiality in all assignments, and showing initiative in identifying and solving problems as they occur.
  • Comfortable working with databases, analyzing, visualizing, and presenting data.
  • Demonstrated success working in a complex matrix environment requiring collaboration with multiple internal and external stakeholders to advance projects critical to the larger organization.
  • Confident as an independent thinker; demonstrates logical, strategic high focus, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to assess competing priorities, manage workflow and meet operational deadlines in a complex organization with minimal on-site supervision. 
  • Knowledge of “Lean thinking” concepts in planning and operations analysis.
  • Ability to keep abreast of new developments in University policies and procedures.
  • Ability to develop, implement, track and report on projects.
  • Demonstrated skills in problem-solving to include gathering and analyzing information to determine best solutions
  • Demonstrated skills in using PC computers, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Internet and other Windows applications. Experience in RedCap and Visio also valued.
