Reporting to the Director of Pharmacy Services at UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center, you will manage daily operations for the Central IV Room (IVAS) while ensuring compliance with USP <797> and <800> standards, regulatory requirements, and institutional policies. In this key leadership role, you will provide direct supervision to pharmacists and technicians, ensure workflow and quality standards are maintained, and promote an environment focused on safety and operational efficiency. You will play an essential role in staff development, process improvement, regulatory readiness, and interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure high-quality pharmaceutical care.

 

Activities will include:

  • Supervising and mentoring IVAS Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians, including performance evaluations, training, and scheduling
  • Ensuring compliance with USP <797> and <800> standards, including hood and room testing, documentation, and remediation
  • Monitoring sterile compounding practices and overseeing the use of master formulas, rasmus reports, and recall processes
  • Supporting hiring, onboarding, and performance assessments of IVAS staff
  • Managing IV workflow to minimize delays and ensure timely medication delivery
  • Participating in departmental meetings and acting as Administrator-On-Call when needed
  • Collaborating with other departments to implement process improvements and resolve operational issues
  • Ensuring adherence to hospital, state, and federal regulatory standards (e.g., The Joint Commission, BOP, CDPH)

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday – Friday (Onsite)

Annual Salary Range: $140,200.00 - $331,800.00

Job Qualifications

We’re seeking a strong, independent clinical leader with current California Pharmacy licensure, a PharmD degree and:

  • Minimum of 7 years of hospital inpatient pharmacy experience or 5 years plus completion of an inpatient residency. Completion of a PGY1/PGY2 Pharmacy Administration Residency satisfies this requirement. 
  • Strong leadership and supervisory experience in sterile compounding and IV room operations
  • In-depth knowledge of USP <797> and <800> regulations and best practices
  • Familiarity with pharmacy regulatory bodies (e.g., The Joint Commission, BOP, CDPH)
  • Proven skills in team development, communication, problem-solving, and process improvement
  • Preferred: Board Certification in Sterile Compounding (BCSCP) or other relevant specialty
