Primary Duties and Responsibilities

As a Principal Auto Equipment Operator, you will be in operation of a 8-15 passenger van for the transportation of patients, visitors, staff, medical equipment, x-ray films, mail, etc. You will drive to and from assigned locations including Ronald Reagan Medical Center, Santa Monica Hospital, Tiverton House, UCLA Community Clinics, and other outlying facilities. 

 

Your responsibilities include:

  • Maintain a timely schedule of pick-ups and drop-offs.
  • Perform daily maintenance on all vehicles used.
  • Assist passengers in and out of vehicles utilizing the proper body mechanics and equipment used for safe patient handling.
  • Manage incident reports of accidents and injuries.
  • Return vehicles to fleet services for maintenance on a routine basis.

 

Salary Range: $23.42-31.50 Hourly

Job Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid Class B California Driver’s License.
  • Must have a good driving record in accordance with DMV standards (subject to DMV Pull Notice System).
  • Required to random drug/alcohol testing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of transportation policies and procedures.
  • Ability to perform all physical requirements of lifting a minimum of 150lbs using the proper body mechanics.
  • Ability to work standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with other staff members and all other personnel.
  • Skill in listening and comprehending information received in person or over the telephone to transport patients.
  • Skill in speaking clearly and distinctly using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain and convey information needed in the transport process of all patients and other items; skill to perform basic arithmetic calculations.
  • Interpersonal skills to interact diplomatically and sensitively with patients, staff, and visitors.
  • At least one year experience in the operation of automotive equipment highly desired.
