Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Help bring tasty, wholesome and nutritious food to patients, families and employees at UCLA Health. You will perform a variety of duties relevant to the retail food service operations of the Department of Nutrition. Responsibilities include:

  • Set up service lines
  • Pre-plate and serve food
  • Aid in the preparation of meals
  • Merchandise food items, maintain the beverage station,
  • Act as a food runner
  • Measure temperatures of hot and cold items
  • Wash dishes, pans, utensils, and small equipment
 

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Ability to apply basic nutrition production skills.
  • Knowledge of portion control and serving procedures.
  • Knowledge of retail operations such as station setup, replenishment, merchandising and inventory procedures.
  • Interpersonal skills to accomplish departmental mission of exceeding customer's expectations.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to prescribed safety, sanitation, and food handling practices according to HACCP and JC policies.
  • Ability to work independently, following through on assignments with minimal direction.
  • Ability to stand, bend, walk, reach, lift, push, and pull for prolonged periods of time in hot and cold areas.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull at least 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work around or use strong cleaning solutions.
  • Skill in reading, speaking, and writing English.
  • Ability to assist in training peers as needed.
  • Knowledge of various kitchen equipment.
