Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The laboratory is currently seeking a highly motivated candidate for a cyclotron operator - Research and Development Engineer position. The candidate, who will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the cyclotrons and associated system, will provide support to the clinical and pre-clinical team during daily activities. You will oversee projects which involve radiosynthesis, quality control and packaging of clinical radiotracers. Under the general direction of faculty supervisor, you will assume responsibility for the chemical aspects of daily production of radioactive compounds and assist in the development of new radioactively-labelled compounds. In this role, you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of a brand new PETTraceTM800 cyclotron and other related equipment in compliance with radiation safety, laboratory safety, and quality control.You will produce, test, and package radiopharmaceuticals in a cGMP compliant environment”.

 
Salary range: $83,800.00-$179,400.00 Annually

Job Qualifications

Required: 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of general chemistry, organic chemistry, analytical chemistry and radiochemistry;  
  • Knowledge of principles of radiation protection; 
  • Skill in manipulating chemical and electro-mechanical devices; 
  • Ability to perform complex manipulative tasks, under pressure, in a precise and analytical fashion: 
  • Ability to handle complex electromechanical control systems;
  • Ability in monitoring electronic operating systems to prevent and detect equipment malfunction; 
  • Ability to follow schematic drawings; ability to break schematics into block diagram form;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electronic tools and test equipment; 
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, staff, students and vendors;
  • Knowledge of radioactive procedures and protocols;
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records and logs.
