Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Utilize your expertise while growing your career as a Senior Grant Accountant at our Venice Family Clinic. In this key role, you will receive guidance and direction from our Senior Director of Accounting and will oversee the Organization’s accounting for its robust portfolio of contracts and grants. After completing training/probation, this position offers a fixed hybrid schedule (requires 2-days of work on-site per week). 

Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the fiscal and administrative functions of contracts and grants including, but not limited to HIV-HRSA (Ryan White), California Family Health Council, Medi-Cal Outreach/Enrollment, HRSA 330 Clusters, EHS, and State Child Development.
  • Reconcile the program/grant general ledgers and prepare necessary corrections to ensure proper month end close and compliance with all GAAP, Federal OMB, grant/contract standards and guidelines.
  • Maintain compliance with grant and contract agreements while working to improve upon controls, systems, processes and protocols.
  • Prepare and submit contract/grant billings and Payment Management System drawdown schedules as per agreements.
  • Prepare and submit other fiscal reports including FFR reports for Federal grants, Payment Management System Quarterly reports, Cost Reports and Financial Status Reports.
  • Responsible for Time and Effort reporting. Review and prepare necessary journal entries for salary distribution adjustments.
  • Works independently and with Grants Team, Program Directors and Coordinators on budget planning, grant proposals, analysis, modifications and contract/grant matching requirements.
  • Coordinate and support audits/reviews and site visits by sponsoring agencies and independent auditors, including preparation of SEFA, preparation of contract and grant related schedules and A-133 audit requests. 
  • Perform as integral part of Grants Protocol Team to improve processes, protocols and systems used to manage the Organization’s grants’ accounting functions and requirements. 
  • Conduct fiscal audit/reviews on grant subcontractors to ensure compliance.
  • Develop and present training for Policy Council or equivalent on fiscal grant reporting and compliance. 
  • Participate in meetings, reporting and projects as needed.

Salary Range: $68,800.00 - $141,000.00 Annually

Senate Bill 525 was signed into law by Governor Newsom in October 2023. Starting June 1, 2024, SB525 sets a new $23 minimum wage for nonexempt healthcare workers and raises the exempt employee salary threshold to $1,380/week (equivalent to $5,980/month or $71,760/year).

1. As defined under SB525, healthcare workers are defined as employees who are involved in the provision of “health care services,” which means “patient care-related services including nursing; caregiving; services provided by medical residents, interns, or fellows; technical and ancillary services; janitorial work; housekeeping; grounds keeping; guard duties; business office clerical work; food services; laundry; medical coding and billing; call center and warehouse work; scheduling; and giftshop work; but only where such services support patient care”.

2. Employees (career, contract, student, per diem) in the UCLA Health medical facilities (e.g. Ronald Reagan Medical Center, Santa Monica UCLA Hospital, Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital, etc.) meet these criteria.

Job Qualifications

REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
  • Fund or Not-for-Profit accounting experience, and demonstrated work experience managing multiple government funded programs
  • At least 5 years of experience in a progressively responsible accounting role (and experience in healthcare preferred). 
  • Advanced Excel Skills including Pivot Tables, V-Lookups and Logic Functions. 
  • Experience using Accounting Software (i.e. Sage Intacct, Blackbaud Financial Edge, MAS 90, NetSuite or Oracle)
  • Possess accuracy/precision in math, strong analytical skills, organization skills, ability to work independently and function as a team player, and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Able to analyze and clearly communicate complex issues. 

MBA and/or CPA Preferred.
