Primary Duties and Responsibilities

In this role, you will perform a variety of duties in cleaning and sanitation and adhere to prescribed safety and sanitation practices and procedures. Your responsibilities will include, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, waxing floors, washing walls, doors, windows, light fixtures, discarding trash in waste bins, cleaning, sanitizing and relining all trash containers and linen hampers. You will also be responsible for proper storage of housekeeping equipment and reporting equipment malfunctions. Responsible for washing dishes, pans, utensils and small equipment according to established procedures.


Salary Range: $20.05 -  $25.91 / hour 

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to read and write, follow oral and written instructions in the English language
  • Ability to work in a standing position for a long period of time: stretch, bend, stoop and reach repetitively
  • Ability to work in hot, cold and/or wet areas, lift 40 lbs., push loaded carts weighing 350 lbs.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Ability to practice safe food handling techniques
  • Ability to adjust to fluctuating work load and adhere to production schedules
  • Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with co-workers, customers, supervisors and managers

Senate Bill 525 was signed into law by Governor Newsom in October 2023. Starting June 1, 2024, SB525 sets a new $23 minimum wage for nonexempt healthcare workers and raises the exempt employee salary threshold to $1,380/week (equivalent to $5,980/month or $71,760/year).
 
1. As defined under SB525, healthcare workers are defined as employees who are involved in the provision of “health care services,” which means “patient care-related services including nursing; caregiving; services provided by medical residents, interns, or fellows; technical and ancillary services; janitorial work; housekeeping; grounds keeping; guard duties; business office clerical work; food services; laundry; medical coding and billing; call center and warehouse work; scheduling; and gift shop work; but only where such services support patient care”.
 
2. Employees (career, contract, student, per diem) in the UCLA Health medical facilities (e.g. Ronald Reagan Medical Center, Santa Monica UCLA Hospital, Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital, etc.) meet these criteria.

As a condition of employment, the final candidate who accepts a conditional offer of employment will be required to disclose if they have been subject to any final administrative or judicial decisions within the last seven years determining that they committed any misconduct; received notice of any allegations or are currently the subject of any administrative or disciplinary proceedings involving misconduct; have left a position after receiving notice of allegations or while under investigation in an administrative or disciplinary proceeding involving misconduct; or have filed an appeal of a finding of misconduct with a previous employer.
