Primary Duties and Responsibilities

UCLA Health’s Santa Monica Hospital is seeking to hire a full-time Senior Custodian to join the Department of Nutrition. You will be responsible for various tasks in cleaning, housekeeping, and custodian duties for our hospital. Primary duties include:

  • Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing floors
  • Washing walls, doors, windows, light fixtures and vents
  • Discarding trash/waste bins
  • Cleaning, sanitizing, and re-lining all trash containers and linen hampers
  • Washing and steaming rubber floor mats
  • Replenishing beverage station
  • Cleaning and proper storage of housekeeping equipment
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Specific work schedule includes: AM Shift 5:30AM-2:00PM or PM Shift 2P-10:30PM.

 

Salary range: $21.05/hr - $27.21/hr


Effective 06/22/2025, employees represented by the AFSCME Union will receive a minimum wage of $25.

Job Qualifications

 

  • Strong customer service
  • Skills performing custodial work
  • Knowledge of basic materials and equipment used in custodial work
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend Standard English.
  • Ability to work in a standing position for a long period of time; stretch, bend, walk, stoop, and reach repetitively. 
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, and or wet areas
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs and push loaded carts weighing 350 lbs. 
  • Ability to wear and maintain safety equipment and uniform
  • Must have safe food handling practices and good personal grooming habits. 
  • Ability to adjust to fluctuating workload and adhere to work schedules.
  • Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with co-workers, customers, supervisors and managers
