Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Nurse Scientist establishes and maintains the infrastructure for the conduct of clinical nursing research and the dissemination and application of evidence-based knowledge to improve nursing practice and related outcomes. Collaborates and consults with nursing leaders and clinical nursing staff to enhance professional nursing practice, patient care delivery, and outcomes of care through the use of research and other forms of evidence. Directs and participates in the conduct of nursing research, research utilization, evidence-based practice projects and dissemination of new knowledge. This position has three main areas of work: development and conduct of research, research utilization and research education. This position serves the UCLA Health system hospitals and nursing staff.

Salary Range: $140,200 - $331,800

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • CA RN License
  • Doctorate (PhD) in Nursing with a strong emphasis in research and evidence-based practice.
  • Knowledge of advanced statistics, data analysis and grant writing.
  • License to practice nursing in the state of California is required.
  • Established program of research.
  • Demonstrated expertise in nursing practice, education and outcomes measurement and research.
  • Demonstrated leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to write and publish in professional journals and texts.
  • Demonstrated creativity and ability to guide others through change and to new levels of understanding.
