Primary Duties and Responsibilities

As a pivotal member of our team, the Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer will collaborate closely with the Cloud Platform Services Manager to spearhead the development, enhancement, testing, and deployment of software for our critical enterprise applications and cloud infrastructure. Your primary toolkit will include Terraform, Puppet and Wiz, as you lead the charge in cloud services and application design, security, DevOps optimizations, and seamless 3rd party integrations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cloud Platform Enablement: Facilitate the adoption and utilization of public cloud platforms (e.g., Azure and AWS) within our internal IT departments.
- Environment Maintenance and Enhancement: Maintain and enhance current environments while proactively identifying opportunities for system architecture and process improvements.
- Tooling Development: Engineer tooling solutions to streamline deployment processes, enabling faster deployments and reliable rollbacks.
- Code and Process Enhancement: Write efficient code and design effective processes to enhance the delivery of our cloud instances and applications.
This is a flex-hybrid role which will require you to be onsite at least 5% of the time, within 72 hours of being notified, and as required by operational need; there are no reimbursements for travel to "home office" location.
Each employee must complete a FlexWork Agreement with their manager which will outline arrangement parameters and aids both parties in fully understanding expectations. Arrangements are regularly evaluated, and are subject to termination.
Salary offers are determined based on various factors including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, and equity. The full salary range for this position is $116,500 - $282,300 annually. The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is approximately between $145,000 - $180,000 annually.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Cloud Professional Experience: Demonstrable expertise in Azure or AWS within a production environment, spanning network, security, applications, serverless, and containers.
- Cloud Networking Knowledge: Strong understanding of cloud networking principles, including security, identity and access management, DNS, etc.
- Terraform Mastery: Ability to work with Terraform at an Enterprise level to orchestrate and manage infrastructure as code.
- DevOps and Software Engineering Experience: Proven track record in both software engineering and DevOps practices.
- Scripting/Programming Expertise: Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language such as Python, Ruby, PowerShell, Golang, or Java.
- Incident Response Ability: Ability to effectively coordinate cloud infrastructure incident response, with a history of supporting production systems.
- Ownership and Collaboration: Strong sense of ownership, prioritization skills, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Bonus Skills:
- CI/CD Systems Familiarity: Experience with CI/CD systems such as Github Actions, CodeBuild/CodePipeline, or Azure DevOps.
- Containerization Knowledge: Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerization of applications.
- HIPAA Compliance Experience
- Configuration Management Systems Experience: Exposure to Configuration Management systems like Puppet, Ansible, or Chef.
