Primary Duties and Responsibilities

UCLA is part of a large consortium funded by NIH to better understand brain and cognitive development from childhood to early adulthood. In this role, you will be involved in projects that include neuroimaging and various behavioral assessments. The Staff Research Associate will assist in all aspects related to data acquisition and daily lab operations. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct day-to-day activities related to the various research projects. 
  • Work closely with other members of the research team and PIs at UCLA and the other participating sites to co-ordinate study visits and compliance with study protocols
  • Coordinate with center administrators to place supply orders
  • Assist investigators in the preparation of figures, posters and papers
  • Other clerical activities
  • Assist with all aspects of data acquisition for the center projects
  • Ensure proper behavioral data acquisition via REDCap
  • Conduct MRI scanning together with other members of the research team, operate MRI scanning and collecting data
  • Perform initial QC to ensure viability of collected data 
  • Transfer data according to study protocols
  • Maintain study records

Hourly Salary Range: $28.69 – 34.21

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Ability to perform tasks in an efficient, well-organized and timely manner with frequent changes in priorities and deadlines.
  • Skill in setting priorities, follow through on assigned tasks and adhering to procedures and deadlines.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to assess situations and problem solve using own judgment.
  • Computer skills including word processing, email systems, spreadsheets, including the ability to enter data and maintain study records.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing, with staff, researchers, and research subjects at different cultural and educational levels.
  • Experience working with pediatric populations 

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or Neuroscience 
  • Some experience in neuroimaging tools such as FSL, SPM, AFNI, or Freesurfer 
  • Ability to work weekends and late evenings.
