Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Our Orthopedic Surgery Department is seeking to hire a limited Staff Research Associate to join the Soragni Laboratory. The Soragni Laboratory focuses on translational research at the intersection of cancer biology, engineering, and structural biology. Primary duties include:

  • Perform cell and tissue culture, cell cloning, and genetic experiments
  • Analyze data generated through histology, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy, and luminescence assays
  • Maintain comprehensive records of samples and experiments in a related database
  • Develop and implement innovative algorithms for organoid characterization
  • Design and execute experiments independently, troubleshoot technical issues, and determine optimal methodologies based on literature and past experience
  • Prepare data for scientific presentations, and publications
  • Mentor and train staff
  • Maintain the Lab’s webpage and support access and compliance requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

Please note this position is limited and may convert to career.

Salary range: $24.28/hr - $48.04/hr 

 

Job Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Data Science or other science related field (highly preferred)
In depth experience with R, Python, and SQL
Strong computer skills
Ability to train and mentor others
Ability to stay up to date on technical developments and scientific knowledge
Strong critical thinking skills and ability to resourcefully resolve problems
Strong understanding and use of technical terminology related to cancer biology
Prior experience in standard biochemical procedures (Ex. Pipetting)
Ability to write legible, concise and grammatically correct documentation of work
Ability to work flexible schedule
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
