Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Under supervision of the Principal Investigator and Laboratory Manger, the Student Laboratory Assistant provides support to help with basic laboratory maintenance and provide supervised technical support to members of the research team. Laboratory duties include but are not limited to, assisting the Laboratory Manager with the maintenance of laboratory stocks, evaluating inventories of supplies and consumables, waste disposal, and cleaning of lab space. They will be trained to engage in supervised expansion and isolation of plasmids, molecular cloning, and maintenance of mouse and human cancer cell lines.

Salary Range: $17.30 – 25.00 Hourly

Job Qualifications

Required:
  • Registered as a UC Student
  • Basic Knowledge of Molecular Biology
  • Very well organized and highly dependable
  • Highly motivated to learn new skills and techniques
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to approximately 50 lbs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with campus departments and the public

Preferred:
  • Basic laboratory skills including organization, preparing common lab reagents, pipetting and working with human primary cancer cells
