Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and set up surgical instrumentation and equipment according to department standards and surgeon preference cards.
  • Maintain a sterile field and ensure all surgical instruments and supplies are ready and functioning properly.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team during procedures, providing instruments and supplies promptly.
  • Implement and adhere to aseptic techniques, including practices to prevent retained foreign objects and ensure safe medication labeling and handling.
  • Handle specimens safely and in accordance with established protocols.
  • Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current with best practices and technological advancements.
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Job Qualifications

We’re seeking a highly-skilled, self-motivated professional with: 

  • Must have surgical technician certification from an accredited school or program, required.
  • At least one year of experience in an acute care facility with experience in all surgical procedures, required.
  • bility to move heavy objects, apply aseptic technique to use a variety of operating instruments and equipment.
  • Ability to handle equipment carefully and safely, and stand for a long period of time.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language.
