Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare endoscopy suites with appropriate sterile supplies, instruments, and functioning equipment.
  • Assist physicians during procedures such as colonoscopies, EGDs and other endoscopic procedures.
  • Clean, disinfect, and sterilize endoscopes and related instruments in compliance with hospital infection prevention policies and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot endoscopic equipment, promptly reporting malfunctions.
  • Monitor and support patent comfort and safety under nursing supervision.
  • Accurately document scope usage, cleaning logs, and equipment tracking.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked work area.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, safety standards, and HIPAA regulations at all times.

Job Qualifications

Certification as a GI Technician, Surgical Technician, or Medical Assistant - preferred.

minimum of 2 years experience in endoscopy and sterile processing - required.

Knowledge of infection control, equipment sterilization, and patient care protocols.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Ability to stand for extended periods.

Manual dexterity to handle instruments and equipment.
