The APP is responsible to assist with cardiothoracic and vascular consultations and pre-operative evaluation. Additionally, the APP will evaluate and treat all post operative cardiothoracic patients once they are discharged from the hospital. This role involves physical examination, wound evaluation and care, prescribing and managing medications, and communicating with other APPs and physicians regarding the coordination of care for the cardiothoracic patient.
The physician assistant (PA) functions in an interdependent role via a delegation agreement. By using the delegation agreement the PA is able to change treatment regimen after observing signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to treatment, general behavior and physical condition and determines if they are abnormal findings. The PA will provide and coordinate the care of patients, provide patient/family education, promote safe continuity of care. The PA also participates in interdisciplinary and clinical rounds, provides education and support, as well as makes appropriate referrals and documents services rendered.
This is one APP role to be filled as either a NP or PA .
Salary range: $74.95-100.86/hourly

- Master's Degree in PA studies-required
- National PA Board certification (NCCPA)- required
- CA PA License-required
- NPI#, DEA#, Enrollment in PECOS, Enrollment on CURES- required
- Outpatient experience on a cardiothoracic or surgical specialty service -strongly preferred
- BLS Certification from AHA or ARC- required
- ACLS Certification from AHA- required
- Ability to utilize excel, word and other software programs-required
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative working relationships with administrative, clinical and academic personnel-required
- Skill in working independently and following through with minimum direction-required
- Ability to set priorities-required
- Demonstrate writing skills to compose logical, detailed and grammatically correct correspondence-required
- Document patient care in a concise and comprehensive manner-required
