Primary Duties and Responsibilities

As a Clinical Laboratory Scientist, you will play a vital role in supporting organ transplantation by performing complex, high-impact testing that directly contributes to patient outcomes. Primary duties include:

Perform and document complex laboratory tests – including immunophenotyping assays and flow cytometry – with precision and accuracy.

Conduct quality control procedures in compliance with manufacturer protocols, department guidelines, ASHI standards, State Department of Health regulations, and other applicable accrediting bodies.

Enter and retrieve data accurately using the Medical Center LIS and UIC LIS, ensuring consistency through supervisor or senior staff review.

Complete CAP survey samples and competency exams accurately and within designated time frames.

Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment in accordance with manufacturer instructions and laboratory protocols.

In addition to a competitive salary range, this position is also eligible for shift differentials.

Salary Range: $53.31/hour - $71.04/hour


Job Qualifications

Current, valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or Clinical Histocompatibility Scientist (CHS) license.

Bachelor’s degree.

Ability to work outside of normal shift hours, including on-call and rotating weekends.

Must pass the Ishihara Color Vision exam, i.e. visual acuity including color differentiation.
