Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Take on a prominent position in the Operating Room.  Under the general direction of the OR Director and direct supervision of the Clinical Nurse Managers and the Anesthesia OR Clinical Supervisor; the incumbent is responsible for assisting the anesthesiologist in the preparation of equipment needed to administer anesthesia; setting up invasive lines for patient monitoring; performing cell saving procedures; setting up Laser and Video equipment and assisting in Laser procedures; setting up other OR equipment; trouble-shooting OR equipment for the clinical staff; and performing clerical and coordinating duties as assigned by the RN Charge Nurse. Job duties will be performed following department protocols and manufacturer’s recommendations in operating equipment; adherence to established procedures based on anesthesiologist’s preference in setting up invasive lines.  

Hourly Salary: $42.48

Job Qualifications

 

 

  • 1 year of experience preferred.
  • BLS from American Heart Association or America Red Cross required.
  • ASATT certification preferred.
  • Competency in operating Laser, video, Endoscopy, other major OR and monitoring equipment.
  • Ability to work in fast paced and stressful environment.
  • Ability to prioritize own work to complete assigned task during shift.
  • Knowledge of infection control and Health Surveillance, OSHA, Universal Precautions, Waste
  • Management, Handling of hazardous substances and Medical Device Act.
  • Knowledge of the Mission and Philosophy of SM-UCLA Medical Center.
  • Knowledge of AORN and AAMI Standards specific to areas of responsibility.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of the job relating to lifting, carrying, pulling or pushing 50 lbs or more, extensive walking and standing and manual dexterity in operating equipment.
