Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Unit Director, Main OR, and the Director of Nursing Operations, SMH-UCLA Perioperative Services, the incumbent has a strong clinical background to assist in training staff to perform duties/responsibilities and provide oversight to the OR Assistants and of Operating Room equipment management. Incumbent must have strong leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills. Under the direction of the Unit Director, the incumbent is responsible for coordinating equipment readiness, functionality, and compliance, including collaboration with vendors, Biomedical Engineering, Supply Chain, and Information Technology to support procurement, installation, maintenance, upgrades, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management of OR, anesthesia, and AV equipment.

 

The incumbent functions as a primary resource to its direct reports, OR Assistants, while also providing support when needed to the Anesthesia Technicians. The incumbent is responsible, as requested, for ensuring the proper performance of the OR Assistants, including onboarding, training, daily management, and quality checks. The incumbent is responsible for Capital Equipment maintenance, Capital Inventory, performance metrics, and standards related to the OR environment.

 

This position ensures a high standard of patient safety, operational efficiency, and continuous survey readiness, while supporting sustained operational readiness, quality outcomes, and alignment with UCLA Health policies, regulatory requirements, and institutional standards.

Job Qualifications

At least 2 years of leadership experience in a hospital setting - required

Bachelor's or Higher - preferred
