Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The Department of Neurobiology is seeking a Laboratory Technician to support innovative neuroscience research focused on the neural mechanisms underlying decision-making and neurogenomics. Responsibilities include assisting with brain tissue collection, sectioning, immunohistochemistry (IHC), in situ hybridization (ISH), immunoblotting, nuclei isolation, and single-cell genomics library preparation using animal models and postmortem human tissues. The Laboratory Technician will also maintain animal colonies, track research subjects and surgical specimens, manage laboratory databases and data records, prepare reagents and chemical solutions, and support the efficient operation of laboratory research activities.
Hourly range: $30.12-$35.92

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Broad theoretical and practical knowledge of standard chemical methods
  • Technical expertise and working knowledge of neuroanatomy, biochemistry and genomics
  • Basic functional understanding of the research concerns related to gene expression in the brain
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret data critically, assist in manuscript preparation.
  • Previous experience working with animal models
  • Bachelors degree and or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1 year of related experience or training
